Stunning, inlaid, hand crafted in Walnut with gallery top, opens to reveal writing storage for envelopes and pens with a secret chamber, complete with original key for the main compartment

Great attention to detail.
A smart early Victorian antique walnut Davenport desk C1850. With the most gorgeous inlaid marquetry. The antique walnut Davenport desk has a small fitted compartment to the top with a hinged lid and gallery, with a sloped leather writing surface.
The Davenport desk opens to reveal a neat interior, consisting of two usable drawers
(the top two drawers are fixed).
To the right-hand side is a bank of four fitted drawers, each with two wooden knobs (the left-hand side being dummy drawers).
The antique Davenport desk has decorative carved front corbels and is raised on original four castors.
Included will be an invoice for the purchase of the Davenport, from an Antique dealer in Northampton in 1973.

Condition appraisal
General wear consummate with age
We encourage prospective buyers to view the Davenport at our studio in Congleton.
For online customers we try to be upfront and transparent with our condition appraisal to avoid disappointment, please study the photos and description carefully.
The overall condition of the Davenport is very good, of course it show signs of everyday wear, small knocks and bumps, some tiny pieces of missing marquetry, occasional ripples and the odd loose joint, nothing remotely serious, the leather has been replaced at some point and has a small repair to the gallery, rewaxed and polished
